Presenters share engaging stories, workshops teach creative skills, and discussions reframe perspectives. A Better World by Design is an immersive experience that deepens our understanding of the power of design, technology, and enterprise to reshape our communities and sustain our environment.
The Roots Café is in the space of the former Providence Black Repertory Company. There is music ranging from zydeco to blues to jazz to hip-hop, as well as cultural events including Latin dance nights, drumming circles, poetry readings, film showings and panel discussions. Its as much of a daytime hangout as a nightspot. Be there or be square.
This gal is hot shit. Stephanie Alvarez Ewens is a freelance documentary photographer based in Providence, Rhode Island. Originally from California, Ewens has called Rhode Island home for the last eight years. After completing a B.A. in Economics from Santa Clara University in 1999, she went on to study Photojournalism at San Francisco State University and most recently Documentary Photography at The Salt Institute for Documentary Studies in 2008.

Keeseh Studio is a woodworking facility that serves as a resource for Rhode Islands creative community. The communal woodshop provides machinery, tools and workspace for local artists and designers to rent using a membership system. As such, they have access to a wealth of capabilities and resources as well as the company of artists with whom to share ideas and gain critique. Keeseh also offers woodworking classes and services. The Studio welcomes a wide range of people from those who have no experience and are looking to learn, to professionals wishing to engage with like-minded individuals.
